  • It has 74 moving walkways in total (30 in the Arrivals hall, 34 in Departures, and 10 at the Ground Transportation Center).
  • The passenger terminal is 1.27km (0.8miles) long.
  • Over 50 million travelers passed through Hong Kong International Airport in 2010. This ranks the airport as the eleventh busiest airport in the world.
Things to Do
Hong Kong is known for shopping and the airport carries on this tradition. The Hong Kong International Airport has two shopping areas; the shopping area at Terminal 1 is called SkyMart, and the shopping area at Terminal 2 is called SkyPlaza. There are more than 200 retail and catering outlets at SkyMart and more than 120 retail and catering outlets at SkyPlaza. Shops that have corresponding stores in Hong Kong outside the airport guarantee that the price you pay at the airport is the same as you would pay outside in town.
Dining options are numerous. From Popeye's Chicken, Starbucks, McDonalds, and Burger King to traditional Chinese and Asian food, anything you want can be found at the airport. Restaurants vary from fast food to places to sit and eat a nice dinner before catching your flight.

A Good Airline For Travel

To contact us Click HERE
Are you planning to go out for a trip this summer? If so, you would be doing some important considerations. One would be that you need to consider how to reach your destination. Options for abroad travels and trips include leisurely and serene cruises on oceans and rivers. However, for a speedy trip, one can book a flight and reach the destination of their choice in a matter of hours. However, before you actually book tickets for a trip, you need to find out which airlines would give you the best deal. There are some factors which make a good airline for a holiday.
It is important that you reach your destination in your planned time and you reach the place in a good mood as well. Any airline will be a good one if it takes you to the destination in a direct flight without any interruptions. Get a check of the airlines which are offering tickets for direct flights to the destination. You should not choose airlines which will offer tickets for transit flights. These flights bounce from one location to another and you may reach the place much later. Also, do not choose an airline known for delays in flights in the past.
There is something else which is important. You need to have a glance at the history of the airlines in recent times. Is the airline suffering from some economic problem? If so, steer clear away. This is because an economically-starved airline will deprive you of good services and amenities. Is the airline known for reaching the destination in the shortest time possible? If so, you can consider booking a flight. Moreover, if the airline is infamous for air crashes and other safety hazards, you need to give it a miss. A good airline is one which offers safety and security up in the skies.
Also, think about the customer services and amenities provided to people. A good airliner will have a staff of helpful and courteous airhostesses and stewards who will attend to every problem of the passengers. Moreover, the passengers should be provided with the regular amenities like meals, air sickness bags, safety manuals and so on. A good airline is also one which offers some luxuries like on-flight television consoles, free gifts for children, comfortable pillows and shawls as well as expensive designer labels and brands which people can buy on the trip with cash or credit cards.

Tricks To Grab Cheap Business Class Tickets

To contact us Click HERE
The topic of international flight travel, comfort and cost of travel is the ultimate factor of consideration. For international travel, business class flights will be chosen rather than the economy ones. With this, the traveler can enjoy great luxury and all amenities in the flight. Though most individuals prefer the business class flight for its luxury, the plan will be dropped mainly because of the high air ticket fare which is unaffordable for most of the people. Getting the cheap business class tickets is quite a tricky task. Care should be taken for ensuring the proper time of booking, date of travel, booking website, etc. Here are few tips which would work out for all those who are new to the research for finding the cheap business class.
  • Buying the business class flight tickets during the peak season will be very expensive and hence, avoiding travel during such times is always advisable. Under such cases, the prices will keep increasing as the date of reservation gets drops off.
  • In case of travel to abroad countries, booking the tickets well before the date of travel will be very helpful in saving a lot of money. Prices will be lesser when ticket is booked three to four months well in advance to the travel date.
  • If the seats in the airlines are not fully filled, the ticket price would go down even in the last minute. These details could be known through the newsletters that are offered by the airlines in a weekly basis.
  • There are several websites which are working on the price of air tickets. They will predict the cost of ticket and intimate about the right time to purchase. These websites could be used for knowing about the best time to buy the travel ticket.
  • There can be situations at which the price of ticket will be decreased all of a sudden. If a customer has purchased a ticket at higher price and if the price of the same ticket gets decreased later, the refund amount could be demanded from the airlines.
  • "Air pass" is a very interesting aspect of flight travel. This is provided for promoting the tourism and to encourage the people to travel for a very long distance.
  • When a person travels a lot among various countries and regions, he or she can get the Air pass. With this, lots of money could be saved. For instance: If you come to know that you will be travelling extensively within Australia, then an Aussie Air pass could be purchased for reducing the overall cost.
  • Online travel portals will be having collaboration with the airlines and they can provide us with online ticket booking. This facilitates the customers in grabbing the ticket at a cheaper rate.
Above all, a proper plan and scheduling of the travel will work out in the best way and enables the traveler to save a considerable amount of his/her hard earned money.

Fantastic Strategies for Your Travel Need

Novices in travel need advice and tips to get started on the right foot. The following advice will help you make the right choices whenever you travel so you know how to arrange for your trip. It's important to plan your trip ahead of time so that you will enjoy yourself once you reach your destination. These guidelines will help you do that.
A little research in advance about the laws and customs of the place you are visiting can help you save from a possibly embarrassing situation. Some behavior you discover normal may be offensive as well as illegal in another country. Always be respectful and conduct yourself properly when you're traveling.
Consider rolling clothes before putting them in your luggage instead of folding them. This will give you a lot more space that you can use to pack other activities. You can always unpack and fold the clothes when you are in your hotel. By doing this you can take less luggage with you when you're traveling.
Always bear in mind where your belongings are, and keep your most significant items in a place you always have having access to. If you have a purse, keep it close to your body with your arm on it all the time. Also, try not use a bag that is readily available in a crowded area like a subway. When selecting a dependable bag for travel, keep these considerations in your mind.
A long journey requires a steady stream of music, so don't forget your best loved tunes on CD or MP3 player to keep you entertained. When you are traveling long distances, the radio will often cut out and in; carrying your own music eliminates this issue.
Pack dark colored clothing, instead of light, as you are traveling. Dark clothing tends to conceal dirt and wrinkles, each of which is a normal part of extended travel outside of your property environment. If you feel that dark colors are too dreary, you can bring lighter accessories to add to your look.
By reading online reviews, you can avoid potential issues with any resorts or hotels you may stay at. Preparing in advance and avoiding potential pitfalls of selecting somewhere with a poor reputation will lessen your odds of having a nightmare of a vacation.
If you are planning on going out of the country, you should purchase an electrical adapter from a discount store. If you wait after which end up purchasing an adapter from your airport or hotel, you can expect to pay double or even triple the standard price.
Always have a contact case handy when you're out and about. These things are great for carrying gels and lotions if you only need a tiny bit of the product.
The tips outlined above must have offered some insight as to how and where you can begin making your own travel plans. These guidelines were thoughtfully compiled to help the new travelers discover the basics and some other cool techniques that are not so difficult to use for their next trip.

Smart Luggage for Air Travel

To contact us Click HERE
Many people can afford air travel once in their lives with the help of the available online bookings in the internet. Getting a good travel deal is no longer a problem when it comes to going to some place for leisure or business. The only challenge to think about after booking your flight tickets is the luggage.
Luggage can be tricky when it comes to being light and enough to enclose all your essentials and then some. So here are some tips in preparing and planning your luggage for a holiday or both short and long trips.
1. Always check baggage allowance in your airline tickets.
Baggage or luggage allowances for air travel information is usually found with the itinerary receipt of your airline ticket as additional information for passengers. Never make the mistake of being ignorant of the luggage rules and regulations so you will not end up bringing the wrong baggages.
Most of the international airlines only allow one checked in luggage or baggage during your travel. A checked in luggage allows about 20-23 kilograms of weight for one piece only.
Do not bring excess luggage or baggages to prevent additional and unexpected excess baggage that can cost you from $70 and up.
Aside from the one checked in luggage, you are usually permitted to bring a hand carry luggage that can fit the aircraft overhead cabins. Take note of the dimensions of overhead cabins of flight carriers to make sure that your carry on luggage is approved by airline terms. They usually weigh between 7-12 kilos per piece.
Both men and women are also allowed to carry one small personal item with the carry on luggage like a purse, laptop, and or other personal small items. If you are visiting a different country, always make sure you have a handbag or backpack to contain and keep safe all your travelling documents.
2. Look for the right luggage bag and containers.
Many manufacturing companies are now creating smart carry-ons in their product line. In most air travel, checked in baggages mostly have roller trolleys to facilitate easier mobility for the traveller. Always choose the right built and feature that you can use.
Backpacks have become the personal favourite of most people with its easy to retrieve access feature and easy to carrying features. Minimize your luggage contents by using vacuum bags and related smart packing devices. This can help you maximize spaces and allow you to bring more without costing you too much.
3. Watch what you pack!
Every airline carrier has a different set of regulations when it comes to the contents of your luggage. Do not be afraid of planning a packing list so you can itemize the things that you will place inside your luggage. Some air travel customs and transfers tend to want to know you not carrying any item that can be dangerous or hazardous during entering a port.
The next thing you should do is to organize your contents inside your luggage. Always pack with function in mind of the items being arranged according to your use.
Do not bring your house when packing, just the essentials and basics that you can mix and match but keep you having just the right amount of luggage.
So smart luggage is never a problem if you follow these three simple reminders. You do not have to be on panic mode when you got the right baggage with you in your air travel without the pain.

Heathrow and the Olympics

To contact us Click HERE
The excitement is palpable. Athletes, coaches, press, spectators, dignitaries - all will be passing through London's Heathrow Airport during the 2012 Olympic Games. Heathrow will be their first experience of London and the UK before they attend the games. What does an airport do to prepare for an event of this magnitude?
Passenger Care
The most important thing to think about is the passengers. The goals of Heathrow during this busy time are to give a great welcome and goodbye to all London 2012 guests and to ensure normal good service for other passengers. Not only is the challenge to serve the Olympics guests and athletes but following the Olympic Games will be the Paralympic Games in August. This means the airport has had to think about how to handle extra amounts of wheelchairs and equipment associated with these special athletes.
The numbers can be overwhelming. Heathrow is expecting its busiest days ever to be July 26 and August 13. On those days it is expected that 138,000 passengers will be arriving or leaving from Heathrow with an attendant 203,000 pieces of luggage. This is a 45% increase from a normal day of operations. So what has the airport done in order to help alleviate hassles and to ensure that all passengers passing through Heathrow have a good experience?
Olympic Terminal
On June 1, 2012, the new Olympic Terminal at Heathrow was opened. This terminal is a temporary structure located in a staff car park and took five months to build. It will cater to athletes and officials for three days following the Games. This terminal alone will handle 10,000 athletes and 37,000 bags. It has 31 check-in desks and seven security lanes. After passing through security, athletes will be bussed to their departure airlines. BAA believes that it will be able to process an athlete in 30 minutes.
The Olympic Terminal will allow the other terminals at Heathrow to feel just like a normal busy summer day.
Volunteers
Volunteers will play a huge role in helping passengers and visitors to arrive and leave with a good impression of Heathrow and its operations. They are the ones who will make a first impression and leave a last impression with visitors. According to airport management, volunteers are crucial to making everything work smoothly during this busy time.
Special Olympic Changes
Heathrow is working to make a lasting impression on visitors. The Olympic rings hanging in Terminal 5 were just unveiled with great fanfare. This inspiring sight will greet arriving passengers and cannot help but create excitement. As you fly over the airport, getting ready to land, look down and you will see an Olympic athlete welcoming you to London in a huge picture on the ground. Heathrow has also partnered with many transportation companies to ensure that visitors can travel from the airport into London and Olympic sites with a minimum of hassle.
Arriving at your destination airport is only the beginning of the excitement of traveling. Heathrow is working to ensure that all visitors to London - whether passing through or staying for the Olympics or just to visit - have a wonderful experience that starts and ends at the airport.

LA DOLCE VITA Italian for “the sweet life” (You can have everything.).

There is so much to do in Rome you couldn’t possibly see it in a single visit, however here are a few things to get you started. The list could include a visit to the PANTHEON which is a stand out because it is so well preserved it looks almost the way it did 2000 years ago. It is still the world’s largest un-reenforced concrete structure. As you walk through it you are probably walking right in Caesar’s footsteps. The Coliseum, an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome, was home to brutal gladiatorial conquests and public spectacles. An architectural and engineering wonder, the Coliseum was the largest amphitheater ever built in the Roman Empire.
Rome was built on 7 hills, the main one being Palatine Hill. If you have the energy climb up you will be rewarded with views of the Roman Forum’s crumbling walls. In ancient times the forum was the economic and social hub of the city. Look down on Circus Maximus the famous chariot racing stadium that could hold 250,000 people.

Memories of Disneyland Vacation

As a child and one of seven children, we didn't take many holidays, and going to Disneyland was always an unfulfilled dream.

My husband was just like me and had always yearned of going to this magical place.

The dream was finally realized when our twins were 9 years old.

We will never forget the thrill of walking though the parking lot towards the entrance. I am sure we were more excited than the kids.

Once inside, our son was determined to get an autograph from each Disney character.

So it was Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Snow White, and running here and there madly trying to meet them and so wanting to believe they were real.

We were staggered by the technology of the place, not to mention the amazing rides. Small World was delightful, and probably our favourite was the boat ride that took us to the Pirates of the Caribbean. This was back in the 80s and I know that many more exciting rides have been added since that time.
Today Disneyland is still a major tourist destination for not only families but people of all ages. The one great thing this place does is bring out the child in us all.

Another great memory of that trip was staying in a vacation rental that was steps from the Disneyland entrance. We were able to cook most of our meals and avoid the expense of eating out. The accommodations were spacious and comfortable and we were so grateful that we didn't have to cram in a small hotel room for our special holiday.

There are still many Orlando Vacation Rentals to be found that are very close to Disneyland. After our experience I would strongly recommend renting from an owner for your Disney vacation. We look forward to renewing our Disneyland memories but this time with our grandchildren.

The Steak Pit Restaurant Bragg Creek Alberta Celebrates 50th Anniversary

To contact us Click HERE
The STEAK PIT is 50 Years Old!!!

To our knowledge, it is the only restaurant in Alberta (if not CANADA!!) to have attained this milestone, with the same ownership.
Yes, back in 1961, builder/visionary, Gordon Shoults, then a young army band sergeant, spent his spare time building this unique structure, opening it that summer as a take-out burger bar, with a 30-seat restaurant.
Soon to become a destination spot for adventurous city diners, the STEAK PIT expanded twice, and also added three A-frame chalets to accommodate travellers and get-away seekers.

The STEAK PIT has become an icon in the restaurant industry, for its cozy atmosphere signature steaks and salad dressing, and for the ubiquitous personalized wooden signs that dot the landscape, literally around the world.
Having weathered the many economic swings of the past 50 years, the STEAK PIT is READY TO CELEBRATE!!!!
Gordon, along with Operator, Marisa Rosati, and Head Chef, Scottie, are pleased TO INVITE YOU to join in the fun over the weekend of July 15, 16, 17, 2011.
There will be special menus, with anniversary food and drink items, lots of entertainment (with some
celebrity alumni surprises), and memorabilia to recall times past, celebrated at this unique spot.

As a special incentive, we invite you to bring along one of the following:
--your personalized reservation sign (the older the better!),
--proof of past employment at "The Pit",
--proof of your "949" telephone prefix,
--this invitation
.....for "deeper discounts" and special offers.

Please call Marisa at (403)949-3633 for more information and reservations.

Entertainment lineup is as follows
Fri. 15th: Brock & Merry Jo (entertainers from late 70's) 6 p.m.

Sat. 16th: Peter Clark (12:30 - 2:30)
Michelle Boudreau (3-5 p.m.) (Gord's grand-daughter, CBC entertainer)

Merida Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula - Gulf of Mexico

To contact us Click HERE
Thankyou Travelin' Pat for sharing this with us.

Here we are on the road again.  We sold our house in Tucson and are taking some time to unwind from it all. I’m a little bit sad because even with its gun toting culture, illegal immigrant problems and copious amounts of rattle snakes we really love Arizona!

This time it’s Merida Mexico. For those of you who may be a little foggy on its whereabouts, it’s in the Yucatan, on the Gulf of Mexico and as far east as you can go and still be in Mexico.

There are somewhere around a million people here and it is the oldest continuously occupied city in the Americas. Around the turn of the century Merida had more millionaires than any place in the world! The Spanish Conquistadors founded it in 1542. They took over a Mayan city Ichacaaniziho (try saying that fast!) so consequently there was trouble ahead. They then had to wall it all off to fend off revolts from the Mayan people. Sadly today the Mayans seem to be second- class citizens who were at one point almost on the verge of losing their language.

Our B &B is wonderful…a graceful colonial mansion right in the heart of El Centro. No other guests but us, … just Serjio the proprietor his 3 dogs and 6 cats. Good grief. And of course the dogs…this time it’s Labradors and these guys want a toy lobbed into the swimming pool constantly. They lunge into the pool after it and reward us by coming out and shaking water all over our books and us!

Merida is such a vibrant city, with Music and dancing all part of everyday life. Yesterday as we were exploring, we stopped at one of the plazas to listen to some live music. The minute the band struck up a tune the stage was flooded with couples dancing. Apparently there is music and dancing in the plazas all year long. On Sunday’s, streets in el Centro are closed to traffic and the locals don on their best Sunday go to meetin’ clothes and head into town for entertainment.

Strolling in an elegant neighborhood that speaks to the old Colonial Days when life was a bit grander…well for the rich people anyway, we happened on…ready for this?? A STARBUCKS!! Nothing like a chai tea latte to draw all the ex pats together…that pretty much is what we do all day long. Walk. Oh yes and a wee bit of shopping… Aaron purchased a Panama hat and looks rather dapper in it if I do say so.

Sejio told us that Mayan people used to be tall then they started sleeping in hammocks and became much shorter. Now the young people are sleeping in beds and getting taller again. Who knew?

We have rented a car and are off to the beach and some exploring for the next 9 days. Onward and Upwards!
