#Golf on Twitter Reveals #FedExCup Speculations about Tiger Woods win

To contact us Click HERE

When @NikeGolf asked Tiger Woods about his approach to the #FedExCup final he said: "Same as always. I feel prepared to win.”  Woods' opinion, coupled with @PGATour's acknowledgment of Tiger's "pole position" start  in Round One of the Tour Championship, bring a heavy-hitting start to the final leg of a race for trophy created by Tiffany and Co. and a $10 million dollar reward.

Not only are Nike and the PGA Tour gearing up for a possible Tiger Woods end of season victory; stories on Twitter reveal cautiously optimistic viewpoints about Woods while interjecting the legitimate and very real Rory McIlroy threat into the equation as did @washingtonpost, "Tiger Woods tops "The Intimidator" - Rory McIlroy - for one day http://wapo.st/Q1CDlU"

Is Woods somewhat intimidated by McIlroy as Greg Norman recently conjectured and, if so, could this slight anxiety cause a blip in Tiger's game?

The bottom line is that McIlroy is a strong possibility to win the FedEx Cup in spite of the fact that Woods is considered a bettors favorite but, no matter who wins the Tour Championship or the trophy this weekend, the fans want to see mutual respect between the players and a solid four rounds of golf.

That being said, below are listed a few of the more interesting tweets on Twitter adding fuel for thought about the FedEx Cup and Tour Championship finales. Enjoy!

@SkySports Tiger Woods admits he has really enjoyed the opportunity to play alongside Rory McIlroy on a regular basis http://bit.ly/Sbckdt

@GolfChannel @DamonHackGC: Tiger Woods shows he’s not intimidated by Rory McIlroy in Round 1 of TOUR Championship: bit.ly/TaxHyd

@GolfDigestMag Familiarity breeds mutual respect for Tiger and Rory. | http://golfdig.st/Ul6gkL

@SportsCenter Tiger Woods holds a share of lead for 27th time at the TOUR Championship. He's gone on to win 50% of the time. >> http://es.pn/QoRIhd

And, for a non-biased approach... @Golf4Beginners Tour Championship remains wide open: feedzil.la/UlisC3

Let the fans remember that the field is wide open with many variables remaining during the next few days of golf which can affect the outcome (go Mickelson!) so let the games begin!

Ryder Cup anchors Woods, Stricker, Furyk sink ship for Team USA

To contact us Click HERE

Team USA fell to pieces on Ryder Cup Sunday as its three anchors, Jim Furyk, Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker, lost their putting skills on the final two holes at Medinah, handing over the cup to a jubilant Team Europe.

Woods_stricker_furyk

Jim Furyk, devastated by his loss to Sergio Garcia was in obvious denial commenting, “I’m pretty sure Sergio would tell you that I outplayed him today”.

My thoughts?  Jim Furyk, although a great golfer, probably should never have been chosen by Captain Davis Love III in the first place, with Furyk known this season by the way he fizzles down the stretch in the finale.

Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods were placed in the clean-up position by Love, in spite of the fact that they lost every team match. Captain Love made mention that he wanted experienced talent just in case it was needed to win the cup but did Love take into consideration both Woods’ and Stricker’s season strokes gained putting average before making his final decision?Did Love forget the beating Stricker and Woods took by Adam Scott and KJ Choi at the Presidents Cup?

Poor putting under pressure ultimately lost the Ryder Cup for Team USA.

With all of the pressure falling squarely on Stricker, who is 65th in strokes gained putting average on the PGA Tour this season,  the eighteenth hole was hardly the time for a “mis-read”.  And, Tiger Woods should never have missed a 3 1/2 foot putt…never.

To further show that Tiger has lost pride in his performance, here is Woods quote after his Ryder Cup tie with Molinari, “You come here as a team and you win or lose as a team, and it's pointless to even finish. So 18 was just, hey, get this over with."  Pointless? Tiger Woods, for certain, has gone soft.

I think Tiger should have sat out on Sunday and contemplated Furyk’s Ryder Cup statement, “It’s the lowest point of my year.”

Congratulations to Team Europe. They deserve the accolades!

Why Tiger Woods Would Not Make a Good Ryder Cup Captain

To contact us Click HERE

Coming off of a disappointing loss for Team USA at the 2012 Ryder Cup, Tiger Woods commented that he would, some day, like to Captain the Team.  Although this move would make the Ryder Cup one of the most watched events in all of golf with television viewership reaching record numbers, would this be a good move for the Americans?

Here are a few reasons why Tiger Woods should probably leave the honor to someone else.

1.       LACK OF FOCUS: Tiger Woods has become vulnerable to distractions, whether it is from outside distractions or within his own game. Tiger would need to focus his attention on the entire team and how they work best together. For that, Woods needs to regain focus on his own game, from putting to the mental game, without losing his cool. Can he do it?

2.       LACK OF CARING: Woods asked all of the rookies to a personal apology session after the Ryder Cup to say “sorry” for not doing more to win. The decision to give up the final ½ point during his final match because he didn’t think it mattered spoke volumes to the Team and to his fans.

3.       LACK OF PRIDE: (See above) Tiger Woods was known never to give up; he always fought back, whether it was from a bad drive or to make the last putt on eighteen regardless of his position.

4.       NOT A TEAM PLAYER: Tiger Woods is best known as a singles player, but not much of a team player. His focus is predominantly on his own game, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but would he truly understand the intricacies of putting together teammates who work well together? For example, would Tiger have paired Keegan Bradley with Phil Mickelson?

5.       If Tiger Woods can’t figure out how to personally win at the Ryder Cup where a Cup and pride is at stake, how is he going to figure out how to lead a team to victory? Is Woods a better player only where money is the motivator?

Tiger Woods has a great understanding of the game of golf, of this there is no doubt, but his willingness to accept defeat is also becoming a lot easier. This might come from his own personal experiences but it certainly is not a good trait for a team captain.

Woods' intense determination to win, his ability to go out believing he was going to win every tournament before it started when he was a younger golfer has been tempered by doubts creeping into his self conscious. Accepting defeat has gotten a lot easier.

Maybe Tiger Woods should leave the Captaincy to someone else...Phil Mickelson perhaps?

Look what makes Dreamworld so unique. Inside the park, the daredevils and the screamers are sure to find their kind of thrill rides. The fright level is left entirely up to the individual. You can proceed from one belly buster to the next as long as your heart can handle it.
If being scared out of your booties is not what you call a good time perhaps you would be more interested in the everyday "family" or traditional rides? No heart pounding or gut wrenching drops, but plenty of laughter and smiles as you ride. Here you'll find fun for the entire family without the fear factor.
While strolling throughout the theme park you will find plenty of opportunities to tame your hunger or just to indulge your sweet tooth. We have the slithery kind, the climbing kind, the crawling, and the feathery kind of creatures. You want to be sure to take in both the tiger and the cougar shows. Would you like to see the sheep shearing, and the crocodile feeding? You may wish to see baby koalas, or kangaroos. Perhaps you would like to visit our various feathered friends as well? Believe me there is plenty to see and experience in the wildlife area of Dreamworld.
Last but not least you have the opportunity to take in the shows that are presented daily in the park. Some of the characters will be available for a meet and greet. There is also the laser show that is simply awesome.
You may want to plan more than one day to take in all the excitement and beauty of Dreamworld.

Today there are just about 100 or so volcanoes that display signs of volcanic activity and five active volcanoes in Costa Rica. Most of them are situated in the in the Central Highlands and northern part of the country.
National Parks in Costa Rica
The 'Parque Nacional Volcan Arenal' known as 'the Energetic Heart of Costa Rica' is located in the middle of the Arenal Conservation Area. The volcano is very active and you can see the smoldering red glow at night. Walking trails take you up to a safe viewing distance.
National Geographic has labeled 'Parque Nacional Corcovado' as 'the most biologically intense place on earth'. The park is home to a variety of animals, birds, plants and insects species. It is the last of Pacific Central America's original big expanse of tropical rain forest. The region offers unique and wide-ranging biological diversity that attracts tourists, ecologists and nature enthusiasts alike.
'Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve' is also an intriguing national park and perhaps the most popular. It is better known as a cloud forest rather than bio reserve as it lies at 3,840ft to 5,120ft above ground level and attracts clouds. This feeds the enormously diverse flora and fauna making it one of the most impressive sanctuaries in the tropical regions of the New World. The park has a fragile environment and limited number of visitors are allowed at one time. It has over thousand of plants, animals and bird species. The biodiversity can be seen from the platforms linked by zip line suspension bridges.
Irazu Volcano National Park is also popular with tourists. It was a terror for people of San Jose and Cartago during the 1960's. There has been smoke and ash recently with the only volcanic activity of releasing toxic steam. One of its craters is a spectacular bluish green lagoon which makes it among the must-see volcanoes in Costa Rica. There are several hiking trails in Irazu which allow you to see the legendary species, volcano junco and hummingbirds.
The Santa Rosa National Park is one of Costa Rica's oldest national parks. It extends over 91,679 acres and almost covers the Santa Elena Peninsula. There are more than 250 bird and 115 mammal species including snakes, iguanas and monkeys, snakes. It lies in the Guanacaste Conservation Area which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Rincon de la Vieja is enclosed by a national park and is an ideal place for visitors to enjoy outdoor activities. It is famous for numerous hot springs and bubbling mud pools, this national park is also home to very challenging hikes. It is tough to trek along the forests of the Rincon de la Viejas slopes up to the rim of the volcano, but the panorama is breathtaking and worth the effort.
Costa Rica has numerous fun things to do with an array of adventure activities on your volcano tours. There are companies that offer tours to the volcanoes in Costa Rica and you can reach the glorious summit without too much of an effort through the horse routes across dense forests, tropical vegetation and numerous varieties of orquídeas. There are volcanoes that can be reached just after a small walk as they are connected by automobile roads.
Volcanoes in Costa Rica
Considered to be among the top tourist attractions in Costa Rica, the volcanoes enthrall both scientists and tourists from around the world. They are a very important part of the amazing natural diversity of the country.
Arenal is considered to be the most famous as it is the most active and spews steam and hot gases regularly. Poas Volcano on the other hand is the easily accessible active volcano and is located in the namesake national park. It is easy to arrange tours to the volcano and the best time to experience its majestic beauty is from May to November. The weather is excellent for looking into the active crater.
Tenorio volcano located in Guanacaste province is divided by a vibrant and fertile valley Bijagua. White coloured Miravalles Volcano with scanty vegetation can also be visited and admired. It has forests but has a rocky floor and shows ground activity.
The volcanoes of Costa Rica and region surrounding them are excellent for white water rafting, hiking, sport fishing, boating, surfing, swimming, horseback riding, kayaking, camping, exploring and mountain biking.

Arty Holidays in Europe

To contact us Click HERE
Do you judge a city by its art scene? Admit it. It's an amazing way to assess a city's cool factor. But don't judge a book by its cover. You'll often find the artiest cities are the ones you'd least expect to be. Look beyond their generic city centres and well known art galleries to discover some of the best underground art scenes in the world.
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Slovenia's capital city is small and cosy. Its architectural beauty is complemented greatly by Ljubljanica river flowing through the city centre, and the city's location in a deep green valley.
The attractions any guide book will tell you to visit are Ljubljana Castle, Tivoli Park, the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, and the National Gallery. But a mere 10 minute walk outside the city centre you'll find Metelkova, an artist's dream, officially called an "autonomous cultural centre". Nestled in the old army barracks you'll find artists' studios, bars, cultural offices, and galleries. Nearby is the MSUM Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova. Keen artists can apply for residencies.
In the city centre, visit Bi-Ko-Fe bar and cafe to get talking to some of the city's hippest residents.
Riga, Latvia
The Baltics have always boasted a lively art scene, that's only been encouraged by the hard-hitting economic crisis as people have been forced to be creative to make a living. Riga is now the epitome of cool. Various of its old industrial quarters have undergone major changes to become centres of art and culture.
The first of these areas was the old port of Andrejsala now home to an artists' hostel, three museums, and events space. Another is Spikeri, a series of old warehouses near the city's central market. These are now a hive of activity boasting one of the city's top restaurants, Kitchen, a concert hall, a doll museum, and KIM museum of contemporary art.
Other cultural quarters are Miera Street Republic (Miera Ielas Republika) with cafes, vintage and lifestyle shops galore, Tabakas Fabrika, an old tobacco factory, and VEF, an old factory just a short tram ride away from the city centre.
Bristol, UK
Most people have heard of Banksy and Massive Attack but how many of you know they hail from Bristol? The city has long been associated with an underground scene with a particular focus on trip hop, graffiti art, and drum and bass. Nowadays, the scene lives on.
Montpelier is a lively area to the city's north where famished art lovers can visit the numerous organic and vegetarian eateries lining Picton Street. The area gathers many creative minds.
The city's old Tobacco Factory is also well worth a visit. It's now been transformed into a creative working space complete with its own animation and performing arts schools and a theatre.
Book a stay at a hotel in Bristol city because you'll need more than a day to explore all there is to see and do here.

Exploring the History and Heritage of Tallinn

A school trip to the Baltic region of northern Europe will be likely to include the beautiful and diverse country of Estonia. After the country declared independence from Russia in 1918, it was formed into 15 counties; the largest is Tallinn, which is also the home of the country's government.
Estonia is often ranked as one the countries with the best human development index, indicating an exceptional quality of life, business, economic status and cultural scene. While you are in Tallinn, students should take some time to explore the history of the city by strolling around its ancient city centre - the Old Town, which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
History of the Old Town
The origins of Tallinn date back to the 13th century, and this centre is a testament to the architecture of a medieval northern Europe trading city. A school trip to the area will take students on a virtual history lesson of the city, which began as a fort at Toompea on the Viking route to Constantinople in the10th - 11th centuries. In the first part of the 14th century, the town came under Papal jurisdiction and was split into two parts - the Fortress and the Lower Town. In the 15th century, the importance of Tallinn increased and it became a major stop on the trade routes. In the 17th century, the city was captured by Tsar Peter I and only gained freedom again after breaking away from Russia in the early 1900s.
Toompea Hill
As you wander around Tallinn on a school trip to Estonia, you cannot help but notice the large limestone hill that seems to dominate the city. Toompea Hill sits in the centre of the city and is roughly 17 acres in size. The hill has a long and convoluted history entwined with the rulers of Tallinn and Estonia, and today it is home to the country's government. The western part of Toompea Hill is occupied by the castle that was originally built in the 10th - 11th centuries, but has been extended and rebuilt over time. The tower of Long Hermann, two bastions and the imposing walls survive on the western, northern and eastern sides. A visit to Toompea Hill isn't complete without exploring the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which was built in typical Russian style between 1894 and 1900 and is the largest cathedral in the city.
Walking through and around the Old Town
Situated on Raekoja Square is the imposing town hall of Tallinn - an interesting place to visit on a school trip, full of history and heritage. Built in 1371, the stone structure is the only intact Gothic Town Hall in Northern Europe and now houses the Tallinn City Museum. Before you leave Raekoja Square, head across from the town hall to see the Raeapteek, which is one of the oldest working pharmacies in the world. It has been in business in the same location since the 15th century. Once you have visited the pharmacy at Number 11 - and if you feel like a walk - follow the original medieval walls, including 26 watch towers, and stop at the Müürivahe street near the Viru gates to see bits of the wall in its original form. Before you call it a day in Tallinn, stop by St Mary's Cathedral - Toomkirik - which is the oldest church in the city. While originally built in 1229, it has expanded and changed denomination from Catholic to Lutheran.

Interior Design: Caribbean Property's Changing Face

A fresh take on interior design is changing the face of Caribbean property across the region.
The following is an excerpt of an article on Interior Design in the Caribbean from The Caribbean Property Investor Magazine, featuring designers from across the region who have worked in Barbados, Jamaica, Antigua and London:
Grand Designs
Interior designthroughout the islands of the Caribbean is evolving. The dark colonial style isgiving way to a lighter, more contemporary feel.
“On Jamaica, the majority of interior designers have been trained in the USA and the UK bringingtogether an eclectic mix of styles.  Thecombination of the islands beauty, its rich culture and the number of businesspeople from abroad and professional Jamaicans who have decided to stay and makeJamaica their home has changed the face of interior design from a rustic Caribbeanand Spanish style to a sleeker cool contemporary look” says British interiordesigner Cleon Roberts, who works on the island.

Movingaway from the heavier, darker colonial style, today’s Caribbean designers seekto maximize the use of natural light and materials: “The Romanesque style usingcolumns and lion sculptures, small windows, masses of dark wood and heavydrapes is diminishing. People are opening up their homes, building roof gardensand terraces, and using natural and recycled materials,” Cleon adds.

TerriArcher, Interior Designer and Director at Archers Hall, Barbados, agrees: “We also see a preference for design that leans towards a moderninfluence yet still maintains the tropical ease and way of life. People havesteered away from the typical ‘plantation’ feel of monkeys and pineapples.”

Here's a brief excerpt from our interview

“I grew up on the Leeward Coast of St Vincent in the Buccament Valley. The natural setting granted us a unique freedom as kids; from bathing under waterfalls to helping the fishermen with their nets in return for a fish or two!” says Marlon, who is looking forward to a solo career after seven years as lead singer of the band Mattafix. “I am based in London now but I try and get home at least once or twice a year. It has become a refuge for me away from the chaos of the metropolis."

"My family and I moved to St Vincent from London when I was 9 years old and arriving there from the bleak backdrop of the UK was a surreal experience. The first thing I was struck by were the colours. From the deep greens of the rain forest to the oranges and purples of a breathtaking sunset. I'd never seen anything like it."

My favourite spot on the island is my home. We have a small open plan purple heart house surrounded by all the fruit trees you could ever need. Its a very hard place to leave!"

Montserrat's First Steps Towards Island Re-launch

To contact us Click HERE
Montserrat launches new brand

Montserrat begins its exciting new start with re-brand led by London-based leading Caribbean real estate and destination marketing specialists 7th Heaven Properties

July 2012: In the first step of its exciting re-launch and as plans for a new capital town and tourism drive gather pace, the Caribbean island of Montserrat has unveiled a new brand identity. With the new look soon to be rolled out both online and offline, this re-branding process has been led by luxury Caribbean real estate and destination marketing specialist 7th Heaven Properties who worked with a wide selection of local stakeholders to establish the island’s new identity.

The re-branding is the initial phase of a new high-end, low-density tourism strategy that aims to attract private sector investment into the new capital at Little Bay and to encourage visitors to the island.

British Overseas Territory Montserrat currently attracts a relatively small but dedicated number of overseas visitors. Montserrat entered the international spotlight when Beatles producer Sir George Martin opened the iconic AIR Studios in Montserrat in 1979 and music stars such as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sting and Eric Clapton came to record on the island. Many of these artists fell in love with Montserrat and returned year after year, some investing in holiday homes.

Through their research with local stakeholders and repeat visitors to Montserrat, 7th Heaven Properties identified that Montserrat’s appeal lies in its offer of tranquillity away from the crowds surrounded by warm, welcoming people and dramatic natural beauty; the new identity has been designed to reflect these assets.

In addition to the island as a whole, an identity for the new capital at Little Bay and port at Carr’s Bay has also been developed:

Little Bay, the new capital of Montserrat

The logo - which incorporates a Celtic Five Circle Symbol - takes inspiration from the surrounding natural beauty, the new capital’s role as a future port town and the island’s Irish heritage. Having been inhabited by Irish settlers in the 17th Century, Montserrat retains strong links with the Emerald Isle; St Patrick’s Day is a public holiday, the national colours are green and orange and Irish place names and family names are commonplace. Additionally, the interlocking circles reference the elements of nature, ever present in this stunning island, and represent the points of a compass.

The former capital and its port were destroyed by the island's volcano and the development of a new capital town and port in the North, an area protected from the volcano, are central to plans for Montserrat’s economic development. The Government of Montserrat believes the new identity and strapline "Relaxation Refined" will be fundamental to re-positioning the island, raising its profile and attracting private sector investors.

John Cox, Director of the Montserrat Development Corporation said:

"The Government of Montserrat is delighted with the new tourism identity for Montserrat. The branding reflects the islanders’ view of the tranquillity and friendliness to be found in Montserrat; essentially, the Caribbean as it should be: "Relaxation Refined". The new branding will help attract investments in tourism and other sectors."

Robert Cooper, Director of Branding at 7th Heaven Properties, which has been working very closely with the Montserrat Development Corporation on plans for the new capital town also commented:

"Outside the island, Montserrat is primarily known for its volcano and for AIR Studios. However, the primary reason repeat visitors continue to come back to Montserrat year in year out is because it offers total relaxation, peace and quiet against a backdrop of lush, green mountains and sensational sea views. The new branding reflects this unique offering."

Caribbean Dreams

What do you want from your holiday? Relaxation? Adventure? A romantic getaway for just the two of you, or a family vacation with something for everyone? Whatever it is you need, chances are a Caribbean holiday can provide it for you, and much more too.
Caribbean Luxury
Magnificent views, beautifully furnished rooms, even private beaches. If you're after a touch of luxury, then the Caribbean is pure perfection. Try a spa resort such as Sandals, and enjoy massages, treatments, steam rooms, saunas and Jacuzzis.
Caribbean Adventure
Surfing, cycling, sailing, kite surfing, waterfall hiking, zip lining: for adventurous spirits, the Caribbean has it all. From beginners to experts, whatever your activity, holidays to the Caribbean are a great opportunity to have fun, improve your skills and even meet like-minded souls.
Caribbean Sun
It won't come as surprise to you that the Caribbean has one of the most pleasant climates in the world. What might surprise you is the variety. For example, the island of Aruba is very warm and dry, tempered by delicious ocean breezes, but very little risk of more extreme winds. Dominica, on the other hand, is dominated by lush rainforests.
Caribbean Nightlife
From the casinos of Aruba to the live music of Barbados, to cabaret in the Dominican Republic, however you like to party, holidays in the Caribbean give you an excellent opportunity to let your hair down and have some serious fun.
Caribbean Peace
And if you're not so much of a party animal, there are islands for you as well. Montserrat, Dominica and the Grenadines are all recommended for those of you who value laid back, tranquil evenings, far away from any noise or bustle.
Caribbean Cruising
If you can't decide which island is for you, then a cruise is a brilliant way to sample a wide variety of them. Experience the unique local culture of each island, enjoy the glamour of cruise ship life, and go back to your own luxury cabin each night to get some sleep and wake up refreshed for a new day of adventures.
Caribbean Romance
An exotic destination wedding? A romantic honeymoon? Caribbean holidays were made for couples to share. Walk hand in hand along the secluded beach, watching the sun set over the palm trees; have adventures together; indulge in luxury dining, or simply enjoy long lazy lie-ins together in one of the Caribbean's many wonderful hotels and guest houses.
Caribbean Fun
The Caribbean is also a wonderful destination for families with children. Try swim-up movies in the Almond Beach Village in Barbados, family yoga in Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, pirate-themed fun in the Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands or Crayola art camps in Jamaica. Whatever your kids are into, a Caribbean holiday is a chance for them to have fun with it. Even picky teenagers will have a hard time not finding something for them.
Caribbean Ecology
Look out for eco resorts like Maho Bay Camps and Concordia where you can stay in tent cottages, take classes in making art from recycled materials or go bird-watching, safe in the knowledge that you are helping to preserve the islands' precious ecosystems.
But what's the very best thing of all about the Caribbean? In my book it's that you can mix all of these things together. People aren't stereotypes who like either massages or kite surfing or nightclubs. Parents aren't averse to having a bit of couple time as well as indulging the kids. It's not just that the Caribbean has something for everyone, it's that there's something for every part of you.

A luxury Galapagos cruise has many facets and surely all of them will thrill and excite you. When the ship docks at different ports, you can visit and explore exotic islands of the Galapagos that are renowned for their scenic beauty and curious animal-life. Galapagos is home to reef fishes, sea lions, stingrays, eels, turtles, white tip reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, and even whales! The presence of sharks and whales makes diving in the sea more life-threatening than other parts of the world and it should be attempted only in the presence of diving-instructors. Luxury Galapagos cruises also have a dining room and a cafe where delicious foods are served around the clock.
Even with so much thrill and excitement, a luxury cruise vacation of the Galapagos Islands can be affordable depending on the right planning of route and destination. Where to Stay in Jamaica

To contact us Click HERE
If you're looking for a self catering holiday with sun, surf and sand then you can't go far wrong looking at Caribbean villas. Unlike England, where it's currently raining with a slightly chilly north westerly wind in what should be the height of Summer, The Caribbean provides warm weather and a clear blue sky most of the year. But that's the difference between the tropical and temperate zones I guess.
The Caribbean is home to some 7,000 islands and are home to even more Caribbean villas, many of which can be found on the islands of Cuba, Hispaniola and Jamaica. The islands of the Caribbean are known as the West Indies and the reason for this is as curious as it is comical. When Christopher Columbus discovered the islands in 1492 he assumed he'd reached the west of India and having no idea the Americas existed he named the islands The West Indies.
One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean is the island of Jamaica. A former British colony which attracts an estimated 1.3 million visitors each year. The three main holiday hot spots are Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios and each have more than their fair share of Jamaica villas for rent.
Ocho Rios is located on the central north coast of the island and is one of many supposed places where Columbus first set foot ashore back in 1492. A popular spot for water sports including water skiing and scuba diving, Ocho Rios is another of Jamaica's curios names meaning eight rivers, yet there are no such rivers in the area. Ocho Rios is also famed for for the stunning Dunn's River Falls, from which the towns original Spanish name Las Chorreras (the waterfalls) was taken.
On the western tip of Jamaica is the popular resort of Negril. Served by the Sangster International airport at nearby Montego Bay, Negril is home to the infamous 7 mile beach, which is in fact around 4 miles long, but this controversy doesn't stop the area from being a hotspot for Jamaica villas for rent as it is ideal for lone travellers, couples and families with plenty of amenities and things to do.
Next up is Montego Bay, equidistant between Negril and Ocho Rios on Jamaica's north coast. This is the tourist capitol of Jamaica and is the second largest city on the island. It is also home to many of the most sought after Jamaica villas for rent. Montego Bay is commonly referred to as Mobay and is known as Jamaica's 'friendly city' due to the warm and welcoming nature of the people. Out of all the Caribbean villas to choose from in the West Indies, you'll find an unsurpassed level of beauty, luxury and friendliness in Montego Bay, but by all means, don't let that stop you from exploring the rest of the island.
