Some famous attractions will doubtless greet you as you are driven through the city in your Geneva airport transfers vehicle. But once you are settled into your hotel you can leave your Geneva airport transfers behind and explore the city on your own terms.
While some of its attractions are plain to see - think of the impressive Jet d'Eau for example, or the Cathedrale de St-Pierre - others are not so well known among those who are visiting for the first time. Take a look at some of the following suggestions to see whether they are worth discovering during your trip.
Patek Philippe Museum
Switzerland is known for its connections with timekeeping - not least through the impressive Flower Clock that takes up a span of five metres in the English Garden. But you can discover more about timekeeping in the Patek Philippe Museum, too. This is spread over four floors and you can find out all about the history of watch making and see timepieces from as far back as the 16th century, as well as some that are more recent.
Place Neuve
Geneva is known for its squares and one of the most famous of all is the Place Neuve. You may pass through it as you negotiate the city in your Geneva airport transfers vehicle. This square is in roughly the same position as one of the gates to the ancient city, so there is some history attached to it. You will find the Conservatory of Music here and also the Grand Theatre.
Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
Some people describe this museum as different, while others describe it as ever changing. Certainly there are many opinions to be had about it, not least because it specialises in modern art. Some of the pieces are invariably controversial but this is what makes the museum so well worth seeing. Look out for the large doors to get in as some people miss the entrance completely. Without giving the game away, you'll see why when you get there...
Plaine de Plainpalais Flea Market
If you have never been to a flea market before there is no better place to begin than the Plaine de Plainpalais flea market. The flea market is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so if you are in town on either of these days make sure you head down there to experience the festive atmosphere. You might just find one or two unique bargains or items you once had and didn't think you'd ever see again!
The Geneva airport transfers will lead you into a city of contrasts - and one that has some real treats in store for the adventurous traveller to enjoy.
